MELANIE DANTE is a respected critical and creative writer, qualitative researcher, and photographer. Most known for her critical writing, commentary, and sexual communication workshops, she is also popular for her esoteric creative non-fiction and poetry. Publicly active since 2003 in the discussion on survival sex, sex work, and sex trafficking, she has been writing on the topic since the early 1990s, supporting programs and legislation essential to empowerment, community health, and human rights. In 2017 Melanie passionately began pursuing projects involving fitness and fashion lifestyles, along with maintaining consult to coverage of her established social justice issues.

BACK STORY:

As a Goddard College Ambassador Alum (BA 2003 / HAS MA 2005), she has a strong sense of community, along with immense respect for individualism. Receiving the Drexel University Deans Scholarship for excellence in research, Melanie selected to stay at her home in Lancaster, PA and her studies in Plainfield, VT, completing the Goddard College Health Arts & Sciences (HAS MA) program. The HAS MA is an interdisciplinary program founded on the principle that community health, personal health, and the health of the natural world are equal.

In 2009 the Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) awarded Melanie a grant to complete a small business start-up program offered by Assets Lancaster. As a result of Assets, she operated a unique craft and collectibles project, Beautiful Day Creations, through the death of her mother, who shared company with her after having to retire early as a result of Multiple Sclerosis. During the decade of time, from 2003-2013, besides her academic and creative accomplishments, Melanie worked in health care as an attendant and advocate.

Contributing to projects combining her background in creative arts, the health arts and sciences, volunteer service, and her familiarity of urban dynamics, Melanie now enjoys a physically active, cosmopolitan lifestyle in Philadelphia.
BACK STORY:

As a Goddard College Ambassador Alum (BA 2003 / HAS MA 2005), she has a strong sense of community, along with immense respect for individualism.
