			Best Foot Forward Philly is a free, all-volunteer clinic addressing the podiatric (foot health) needs of Philadelphia's homeless population. BFFP empowers clients to take an active role in their health through preventive care and education. The clinic collects no identifying patient information, and has a low barrier to entry to serve a population that may not otherwise seek services.

			BFFP was founded as the project of Albert Schweitzer Fellow Kara Cohen in 2012 to address the podiatric healthcare needs of Philadelphia's homeless population. What began as a small service staffed by a handful of dedicated friends and nursing colleagues has grown into bi-weekly clinic with hundreds of volunteers serving over 1,000 individuals with over 2,000 visits.

			BFFP provides foot care services twice monthly at the Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission. We serve approximately 25-45 clients (mostly men) each clinic session. Clients have their vital signs recorded, receive a health evaluation and foot soak, and leave the clinic with a new pair of socks, health education, and referral to necessary services. Our volunteer staff of health professionals and students triage patients and provide services in a respectful manner.

			Homeless men and women are particularly at risk for foot health ailments as they spend many hours each day standing and walking in poor fitting shoes often in bad weather. Best Foot Forward Philly provides homeless clients with a restorative experience.
