Located at the corner of 12th St and Carpenter St, the Hawthorne Cultural Center is a City Recreation Center specializing in art, dance, theater and other cultural programs in addition to a broad range of activities for adults and children.

Sample List of Programs

The 2014 Spring schedule looked like this:

KIDS

  • Tumbling, Wednesdays, 4:00-7:00pm, ask about ages
  • Intro to Dance, Thursdays 4:00-7:00pm, ask about ages
  • Pottery, Tuesdays 4:00-5:30pm
  • Mexican Folk Dance, Fridays, 5:00-7:00pm
  • Wushu Gong Fu, Wednesdays 6:00-7:15pm, and Saturdays 11:00-12:15pm
  • Grappling, Thursdays & Fridays 7:00-9:00pm, Saturdays 3:00-5:00pm (Mixed with adults)
  • Summer Camp, Monday-Friday 9:00am-3:00pm, starting July 7th

ADULTS

  • Salsa, Thursdays 7:00-9:00pm
  • Dunham Dance, Mondays 7:00-8:30pm
  • Wu Shu Gong Fu (Adult & Teen), Mondays and Thursdays 6:30-8:30PM
  • Zumba, Tues, Wed., & Fri. 7:15-8:30 pm
  • Therapeutic Movement & Healing (Internal Holistic Arts): Yoga, Qigong, Meditation, and Tai Chi, (Adult & Teen), Sat. 10:30-12:30
  • Grappling, Thursdays & Fridays 7:00-9:00pm, Saturdays 3:00-5:00pm (Mixed with kids)
  • Aikido, Wednesdays 4:00-6:00pm(Mixed with kids)
  • Old School Dance, Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:00pm-9:00pm
