Wikidelphia On Twitter/X
Wikidelphia's Twitter timeline @wikidelphia1 began in February 2022. I, staff editor PaulSank started it and have been running it. I post these kinds of tweets:
- A Brand New Wikidelphia Page: I announce a newly made Wikidelphia page.
- A New Wikidelphia Stub: When I start a page, I announce the new "stub". Usually, the page idea was prompted by a story found in the news, so this type of tweet will usually include a news story. These tweets also mention that the stub will become a full page in a few months.
- Updated Page: After I do a full update on an existing Wikidelphia page, I tweet an announcement of the update.
- News Item Added: In my regular news search for page ideas, sometimes I'll bump into a news story that would be good to add to an existing Wikidelphia page. I announce the addition.
- Retweets: When I clock in, I check our Home timeline and look for suitable tweets to retweet. Usually, my retweets are local events of general interest, for example, festivals and job fairs.
- Random Page of the Week: Wikidelphia's "Next Random Page" feature is fun to use! Every week, I use it to pick a page to highlight. I keep clicking on Next Random Page until I come up with a page that looks good and is up-to-date.
- Random Category of the Week: One of the most important features of Wikidelphia is our category system. In order to give folks an idea how to use it and what it includes, I highlight a randomly selected category every week.
- Random "Where" of the Week: One of my favorite Wikidelphia features is the "geographical infrastructure", which means this: I gradually looked for and found every neighborhood in Philadelphia, made a Where category out of each one, added at least one organization or business to each page, and used an "Adjoining Neighborhoods" paragraph on each page to enable you to easily go "neighborhood hopping". In this type of tweet, I highlight a randomly selected Philly neighborhood every week.
- Top-Viewed Tweets: Periodically, I'll do a countdown of our top-Viewed (most popular) tweets. Since most of our tweets refer to organizations or businesses, this is an opportunity for some local organizations and businesses to be spotlighted for their popularity.
- Special Mention and Editor's Note: Some tweets don't fit into any of the types above, but I still want to tweet something, so I call it a "Special Mention" or an "Editor's Note".
