Laura Steffen of Walking River Coaching.

Walking River Coaching introduces itself with the line, "Coaching for women who dream of starting or growing a business," and gives the following descriptive information:

I am Laura Steffen, a business process consultant and a coach for women entrepreneurs. Besides all of the information and skills I learned while getting my MBA in Sustainable Business from Pinchot University (formerly Bainbridge Graduate Institute) and the years of experience I had creating and running entrepreneurship education and business school programs, the heart of my coaching method is one I am learning as a Fellow of Creating the Future. Its mission is to create a world where people are living well, individually and collectively. By changing the questions embedded in the daily work of individuals, everyone naturally brings out the best in each other and in our world. The questions we ask ourselves and each other are informed by the assumptions we hold. We even hold assumptions about ourselves. In fact, those assumptions are frequently what hold us back from asking ourselves important questions, and hearing the important answers to those questions. If we can shift the assumptions we hold and the questions we ask, we can shift from a society of scarcity to one of abundance. That means more of what you want in your life--time, freedom, people, whatever it is that you want!

The women entrepreneurs I speak with often feel alone and overwhelmed. They are looking for information, service providers, partners and emotional support. In coaching, I work with entrepreneurs, individually and in groups, who want to start or grow a business. I love working with women who are passionate about creating community in doing their work. In collaboration with each entrepreneur, we articulate the business idea and design a process that works for her. By maintaining her curiosity and flexibility while building her business, the experience is rewarding and powerful. In my role as coach, I also curate a group of collaborators to whom I refer clients for services or bring in to teach in workshops.
