The Joseph J. Peters Institute introduces itself as, "Restoring Hope With Dignity", and gives the following descriptive information:

Since 1955, The Joseph J. Peters Institute has been helping individuals and families heal by providing expert clinical care to people suffering the effects of trauma. Recognizing that true healing comes when an individual finds hope, the Institute works to build that hope through trusted relationships between individuals and their treatment providers using evidence-based practices.

Today, the Joseph J. Peters Institute is actively engaged in leading treatment and research efforts to understand the cause and effect of sexual and interpersonal violence, post-traumatic stress disorder, and other types of trauma.

We are experienced in the prevention, treatment, and research of sexual and interpersonal violence, post-traumatic stress disorder and other forms of trauma, and remain one of the few agencies in the country that offers a comprehensive approach to trauma by addressing the entire cycle of abuse.

At the Institute, we recognize that survivors and offenders are diverse populations with varied needs. To best meet those varied needs, we provide treatment at separate locations, ensuring we treat all individuals with dignity, in an environment that is emotionally safe, promoting recovery and resiliency.

Serving the Delaware Valley and beyond since 1955, the Joseph J. Peters Institute is nationally recognized for contributions in research and education, prevention and training, and evaluation and treatment through both Survivor and Offender services. The Institute is an affiliate of Public Health Management Corporation.
