The greatest means of support that CTS provided for Mr. L was in providing him a safe place to process his feelings resulting from the sudden changes that had taken place in his life and the ramifications of those changes. Mr. L is a well-educated veteran with no previous criminal history. His shame about his conviction provided more of a barrier to employment than his actual conviction. Once Mr. L regained his confidence to successfully re-enter society and to regain his position as the head of his family, he set out on his job search with a determination to succeed. And succeed he did. Mr. L had an extensive employment history in warehouse management and has become gainfully employed fulltime as a Warehouse Manager for a rate of $26.44 per hour. This position is comparable to the position that he lost as a result of his incarceration, but at an even greater salary than before.

Connection Training Services (CTS) gives the following descriptive information:

The CTS Mission is to provide for economic, housing and social needs of the disadvantaged populations of Philadelphia to enable participants to begin the path to self-sufficiency and a better quality of life. We provide training and services to participants from five counties: Philadelphia, Montgomery, Delaware, Chester, and Camden.

The CTS Vision is to set the standard for community service providers in all areas where we serve the community.

At CTS we pride ourselves on our diverse staff of dedicated professionals, each bringing years of committed service to the community. Our philosophy differs from other organizations in that we understand we are offering more than an opportunity to build the individual and community up — we offer the opportunity to develop lasting relationships and memorable events that help the people we serve to know they are not alone.

When taken as a whole, it’s easy to see how our diverse set of programs and service offerings all help to build a stable, better connected community, and introduce greater vitality into the community. We provide a wide array of services and much needed support.
