Helen Hale is a modern dance choreographer and performer based in Philadelphia
Her work has been presented by The High Museum of Art, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, The Galleries at Moore, The Hambidge Center, Dance Truck, Dashboard Co-op, The Lucky Penny, Spark and Echo Arts, BurnAway Magazine, MINT Gallery, Art on the Atlanta BeltLine, and WonderRoot Community Arts Center. Helen received a BFA from Temple University (PA) in 2009 and has performed with companies and choreographers around the country including Kun-Yang
Personal Statement
- I endeavor to make dances that speak clearly and kindly into the lives of real people in real places
- I consider the audience to be community and family, and my performances to be inclusive offerings made on their behalf
- My movement vocabulary is rooted in modern dance methods, Chinese martial arts, Umfundalai African Dance, and the music and dance of my heritage—both traditional Greek folk forms and those of the Deep South where I was born and raised.
