'''Reclaim Philadelphia''' is a grassroots power organization working to organize the progressive majority in the city. Reclaiming the city means taking it back from those who discriminate against, wrongfully imprison and impoverish us. Grassroots power means organizing neighborhood by neighborhood — which is why we hold regional meetings to discuss the oppression of our communities and how to resist.
What does it mean to “reclaim Philadelphia”? It implies that something has been lost and needs to be retaken. And for us this is exactly the case: the people, organized, would take back the commons from the elites who privatize and ruin it. A more humane, more welcoming city, and a more inclusive, more democratic politics, would be the goal.

The progressive movement has reached a turning point. Public opinion is recognizing income inequality and racism as critical issues. Here in Philly we’ve got a chance to elect the most progressive DA in the country due to the work of Reclaim & its coalition. In coordination with Our City Our School’s we’re on the path to a locally controlled school board. These are tremendous opportunities for a progressive future in Philly that will reverberate across the country — but we need to come together right now or these opportunities will pass us by. Come to our next citywide meeting on October 22nd to hear about our progress, meet the members running for our next steering committee & find out where you can get plugged in.

Continuing the Political Revolution in the City of Brotherly Love

Reclaim Philadelphia is a grassroots, democratic organization that aims to build power for people across the city. In a political world flooded with corporate money, it is dedicated to amplifying the voices of Philadelphians. We oppose the rule of moneyed and special interests that deform our institutions and deface our government. Through issue-based and electoral campaigns, policy research, and direct action, Reclaim Philadelphia is working to organize the progressive majority in the city.
