Clay Shirky's lucid and penetrating analysis steers you through the online social explosion asking: what happens when people are given the tools to do things together, without needing traditional organisational structures?

Comments

  • This is still fascinating years later, but when he explained what Twitter was I wasn’t sure if I should stop watching or laugh
  • Around the 10:40 mark he describes a non-productive tool made for a non-productive group being used as incredibly productive. This is very similar to Hayek's argument for allowing people to be wealthy (because of their lifestyle innovation).
